It's been a busy bunch of weeks here in Hondo. I (Paul) have been working with the Co-op's WiFi Committee which is trying to improve the performance of the wireless data network. Also, when the weather allowed, Penny and I were spackling, caulking and painting the shed on our lot so we could set up our respective hobby spaces. It took a while because the temps kept going down below 40 F and the materials won't cure/ dry correctly when it's that cold. It turned out really nice, but then, as things are wont to do in our like, things changed.

Where we are now |
This lot has a lot more concrete pavement. The soil here is kind of a fine limey, sandy clay. Even though the soil is covered with smallish gravel, when it gets wet it gets messy. You end up tracking dirt into the HOW, the shed, everywhere you walk. Also, parking on, and and having a generous perimeter of concrete makes working on and maintaining the HOW, kinda like working in a big open-air garage. (Insert Tim Allen grunt here)
This lot has a slightly bigger shed. The old shed was 10' X 12' with two closets, a floored attic and a six foot ceiling. It was small but completely usable. It had small jalousie windows on three walls and a large double door on the fourth. The new shed is 12' X 16' with no closets and a 10' ceiling, and it too has a floored attic. It has 2 single doors and a full size double-hung window on one wall and a smaller double-hung on the opposite wall.
Workshop Area |
There is a section of countertop with a sink a small workbench and sone utility shelves. There is plenty of room for the both of us to have our hobby areas.

It also has a covered PORCH!!! Those of you who knew me when I lived at my parents house, know that I love to spend time on a porch, a front porch specifically. In the South they call 'em Settin' Porches. I can visit with my neighbors on the porch, (we's settin'). I can read on the porch, nap on the porch, pray on the porch, play games on the porch. I'm writing this on the porch. Gimme a porch and I'm a happy man.
So now you're caught up on the 2 P's. If you need us, we'll be on the porch, a settin'.
Looks awesome
ReplyDeleteLooks good. My only suggestion if you are still here when it gets warm is to get a heavy duty fan or maybe a swamp cooler for y'alls porch. You may want to get a portable air conditioner for the shed as well.
